ADHD treatment initiation
If you or your child has received a diagnosis of ADHD and would now like to start medical treatment, I provide a comprehensive assessment of the options and a clear plan to follow to achieve optimal symptom management.
I work in partnership with the Autism Service so accept their reports without the need to review, however if you were diagnosed by an alternative provider, please send the report for review before booking
If a report provided is not NICE compliant, you would likely need additional assessment to access the medication service.
As part of the treatment plan I will address lifestyle factors and behavioural strategies. I will prescribe medication and monitor it in accordance with national guidelines.
Treatment Planning Appointment options
ADHD (Core Symptoms Only) Treatment Plan:
For individuals who want treatment for core ADHD symptoms only:
Focus , concentration , hyperactivity and some impulsivity.
Typically, people might be experiencing trouble completing work or school tasks, but otherwise their mental health and functioning is acceptable.
ADHD (Complex or Multiple Difficulties) Treatment Plan:
For individuals who are experiencing more complex problems which might include:
Difficult behaviours (aggression , violence, school refusal)
Significant co-existing mental health problems.
If there is uncertainty about whether the difficulties are related to Autism or ADHD
This appointment is longer to allow for assessment of all the factors that are contributing to the difficulties. Treatment and medication options may include but not be limited to ADHD medication.
